What are the stupidest decisions ever made in Silicon Valley?

Answer by Marc Bodnick:

Here are four high-profile decisions which are widely considered to have been terrible (three of which involve Yahoo):

  1. Yahoo not putting a heart-stopper of a bid on the table to acquire Google, when those discussions were pregnant.
  2. Yahoo not stepping up and executing the Facebook acquisition in 2006 (for about $1B) — losing the deal because they screwed around on price.
  3. Time Warner agreeing to merge with AOL.
  4. Yahoo wasting a ton of time and resources investing in Panama to compete with Google.
